The Paradigna Project
As part of a broader project to reshape its museum system and rethink its relationship with local surroundings, the University of Parma decided to review the potential of the CSAC, above all as a museum and a public attraction, and to establish it as a new reference point on the national and international contemporary art circuits from May 2015 onwards.
The Paradigna Project is to develop the historical 13th century Cistercian Abbey that is home to the CSAC, as well as the surrounding farmland. In addition to reorganizing the archives, it is planned to create a new storage wing, spaces for laboratories, teaching, restoration, studios, and workshops, as well as laying out a museum inside the church and the colonnaded rooms, developing the sculpture court, and opening a cafeteria with a small restaurant and a hostel in the former monks’ cells.
A series of spaces and facilities to bring the ancient abbey up to date, fully in keeping with the latest standards for public and cultural attractions.
The CSAC will also become an outstanding local attraction.
The facility’s activities will be made exceptionally attractive by intensifying relations between the Centre and influential figures of the city and its environs through the creation of an Association and a network of relationships to support the programming and development of various events.
The synergies created would involve specific joint projects, such as the envisaged museum, archive and welcome services included in the Paradigna Project.
